Bailouts and Bubbles
See the latest Economist for a stern caution on the combination of government bailouts and bubbles that makes up what passes for our current economic system. I’ve been warning about this for a while. It’s the biggest danger the global economy currently faces.

The Skyscraper Index
The Burj Dubai opens today, drawing an era of outlandish architecture to an end. As the world’s tallest skyscraper, it calls up economist Andrew Lawrence’s Skyscraper Index, which posits that the world’s tallest buildings are predictors of recessions and are often completed during subsequent economic downturns.
